Hail damages 8,700 hectares of agricultural land - official

ArmInfo.As of today, hail has damaged 8.7 thousand hectares of agricultural land. This was reported  in Parliament on June 11 by Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia in charge of agriculture Arman Khojoyan.

Construction of five reservoirs planned in Armenia - minister

ArmInfo.Five small reservoirs are planned to be built in Armenia.  This was stated by the Minister  of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia David Khudatyan during the discussions in the country's parliament on the implementation of the 2024 state budget on June 11.

Lower population growth in Armenia

ArmInfo. In January-April 2025, 9,729 children were born in Armenia, which is 7.3% lower than the same period last year. The birth rate per 1,000 inhabitants for the reporting period was 9.6 per mille, compared to 10.5 per mille a year earlier. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

Armenian trucks temporarily barred from entering Georgia

ArmInfo. Due to the recent accumulation of freight carriers at Georgian checkpoints, the   Armenian Customs Service has announced a temporary ban on Armenian  trucks crossing the Armenian-Georgian border, as noted in a statement  from the State Revenue Committee (SRC).  According to the source, the  measure, which is being implemented to support business entities, is  only temporary and will remain in place until the capacity issue  on  the Georgian side is resolved.

Central Bank to establish a regulatory framework for crypto assets sector within 1.5 year timeframe

ArmInfo. The Central Bank of  Armenia has been tasked with creating a regulatory framework for the  crypto assets sphere within a 1.5 year buffer period, as stated by  the Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, Martin  Galstyan, during a press conference on June 10.  He clarified that  the relevant by-laws will be developed during this period: "The  by-law framework will specify the types of companies/organizations,  types of licenses, amounts,  and more."

Martin Galstyan: Armenian dram has weakened against US dollar in terms of real effective rate

ArmInfo. During the year, there  has been a significant appreciation of the ruble, indicating changes  in the exchange rate of the Armenian dram / Russian ruble, as noted  by the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, Martin Galstyan,  during a press conference on June 10.  He also noted that inflation  in Russia remains higher than in Armenia. "Due to these two factors,  we see that the Armenian dram has weakened against the Russian ruble,  and Russia is our main trading partner," he noted.

CB Chairman on cases of financial fraud: Banks to extend moratorium on credit obligations until court verdict

ArmInfo. The moratorium on  credit obligations for citizens who have become victims of fraud,  initially set at 3-5 years by banks, will now be extended until a  court verdict is reached in each individual case. Martin Galstyan,  Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, announced on June 10 during  a press conference, citing an agreement reached with the banks, who  will provide further details in the upcoming days.

Armenia`s foreign trade with EAEU decreasing, while increasing with EU

ArmInfo. Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU is declining, while with the EU it is gaining momentum. Specifically, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the EAEU  has shifted from an impressive 3-fold growth to a noticeable decline of 61.5% in annual dynamics, while between Armenia and the EU the dynamics show a growth of  4.8%  (compared to a 24.3% decline a year ago). As a result, the volume of Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU in January-April 2025 amounted to $2.3 billion, and with the EU - $729.3 million, according to data from  the RA Statistical Committee. Among the EAEU countries, almost all (with the exception of the Russian Federation to a significant extent) reduced volumes,  while among the EU countries, the majority preferred to increase volumes. These countries include the Netherlands, Bulgaria, France, Romania, Austria, Spain, Slovakia, Finland, Poland, Greece, Hungary. This change in  annual dynamics led to a decrease in the share of the EAEU in the structure of Armenia's foreign trade from 44.8% to 36.6% (with the Russian Federation decreasing from 44.1% to 35.1%), while  the EU's share increased from 5.2% to 11.6%. The top five trading partners of Armenia are Russia, China, the UAE, Iran and Germany, with foreign trade volumes for January-April 2025 amounting to $2.2 billion, $765.6 million, $729.5 million, $222.7 million and $140 million, respectively.
