New bill: Legal challenges won`t halt tender for Armenia`s gambling  sector operator

ArmInfo.  In Armenia, court decisions should not affect the tender process for selecting a  gambling operator, as stated by Rafael Gevorgyan, Deputy Chairman of  the State Revenue Committee, at a meeting of the RA NA Committee on  Economic Affairs on February 4.

According to him, the State Revenue Committee had  announced a tender  for the selection of a gambling operator, which would regulate the  gambling market for 15 years. Key responsibilities include:  developing a unified digital infrastructure for all casino and  prize-game organizers, monitoring and reporting data on all market  participants, including stakes and winnings and ensuring transparency  and oversight across the industry.  The package of amendments to the  laws "On the Regulation of Gambling Activities," "On Procurement,"  and "On Public-Private Partnership," as well as changes to the Civil  Procedure Code, is aimed at addressing these issues.

However, as Gevorkyan noted that some market participants are trying  in every way to resist the innovations. The proposed amendments  specify that judicial lawsuits will not suspend the tender process.   While claims can still be filed and heard in court, they will no  longer have the power to freeze the selection of the operator.  It  should be noted that the Commission has approved the presented  package and recommended its discussion in the National Assembly  within 24 hours.
