Armenia is open to discussions on the Alliance Free Economic Zone, including with Russian investors, says the Minister of Economy

ArmInfo. The Alliance Free Economic Zone (FEZ) was closed due to certain issues by decision of an interdepartmental commission chaired by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan. He announced this during a press conference on February 6.

In this regard, the minister mentioned the recent visit of prominent Russian businessman Yevgeny Yevtushenkov, founder of the investment and financial corporation AFK Sistema, who met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"I can say that we welcome any investment, including from the Russian Federation. And if these investments require certain benefits, the government is ready to discuss this and find a solution that will benefit both Armenia and business," the minister said.

Regarding the Meghri Free Economic Zone, Papoyan pointed to problems related to the owners. "Until there's a legal solution, we can't do anything," the minister said.
