Mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs to be subject to mandatory insurance in  Armenia

Mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs to be subject to mandatory insurance in  Armenia

ArmInfo.  Mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs will also be subject to mandatory insurance in Armenia. At its March 20 meeting, the RA National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security approved the amendments to the law "On Compulsory Motor Third-Party Liability Insurance" (CMTPLI) submitted for second reading by the RA government.

Presenting the amendments, RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs  Armen Ghazaryan emphasized that no changes had been made to the  document for the second reading. The Deputy Minister emphasized that  there has been a recent increase in the number of road accidents  involving mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs. As of March 1, there were  2,594 officially registered two-wheeled mopeds, 29 three-wheeled  mopeds, and 127 tricycles and ATVs. Their traffic volume on the  country's roads is rapidly increasing, yet only a small portion of  these vehicles are insured. Meanwhile, mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs  have become an integral part of road traffic. The proposed  regulation, as the Deputy Minister noted, will allow for more precise  monitoring of the situation on the country's roads. Monitoring will  be carried out using technical equipment from the Patrol Service of  the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The issue will now be discussed at the plenary session of the  National Assembly, which begins on March 24.
