Deputy Minister: Armenia has surplus power and needs to export it

ArmInfo. Armenia has surplus power and needs to export it, as stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan at a NA European Integration Committee  meeting on March 23.

According to him, the  Armenia-Georgia power line's construction  could significantly enhance the country's export potential. The  Deputy Minister highlighted  the significant potential for increasing  electricity production in the country. However, there is no capacity  for export, much less for storing large amounts of electricity. The  new power line construction will provide that opportunity. Given the  development of solar power in Armenia, three key objectives must be  addressed: increasing domestic electricity consumption, exporting it,  and establishing reserves by installing batteries, which has become a  new but very important component in relations with the EU.
