
ArmInfo.The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Armenian Intellectual Property Office at the Ministry of Economy signed a memorandum of understanding. This was reported by the Ministry's press service, citing the results of a meeting in Alicante attended by representatives of the EU4IP program beneficiary countries, which implemented by the EUIPO.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Armenia, Ukraine, and Moldova.
According to the source, the signing of the document signifies a new level of institutional cooperation between the institutions.
During the meeting, Anushik Avetyan, the head of the Armenian delegation and Deputy Minister of Economy, presented ongoing intellectual property reforms and the government's priorities. She emphasized that the development of the intellectual property system is a strategic priority for the state, given its important role in fostering innovation, economic growth, and creative industries.
Kristine Hambaryan, Head of the Intellectual Property Office, presented the current state of the field, ongoing programs, and areas for future cooperation with the EUIPO. She also discussed upcoming initiatives, including the adoption of a new law on copyright and related rights, the development of a national intellectual property development strategy, legislative initiatives in geographical indications, and others.
According to the source, during the meeting, the participants discussed events planned for 2026 under the EU4IP program, as well as opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation. As part of the event, Kristine Hambaryan held a separate meeting with the President of the EUIPO. The parties discussed issues related to enhancing the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, developing institutional capacity, and implementing international best practices.
It should be noted that Armenia joined the EU4IP program in the second half of 2025.
