ArmInfo. The construction of the Kajaran-Agarak highway is proceeding on schedule and with high quality, as stated by RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan during a government hour on March 25, when asked whether the Iranian construction workers for this section of the highway remained in the country or left due to military operations in Iran.
The minister emphasized that the Iranian construction workers have not left Armenia, and have already completed 45% of the work. The drilling of two tunnels has been completed, and active work is underway on 14 out of the 15 bridges. This section of the road is expected to be commissioned in late 2027 or early 2028, depending on weather conditions.
The minister also announced that drilling of the Kajaran tunnel is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026. The tender process for this tunnel is in its final stages. The winning company will be announced soon. Negotiations are currently taking place with a French company for the construction of the Bargushat tunnel.
