
ArmInfo. At the initiative of the Ministry of Technology and Industry of Armenia, a discussion was held on improving the cybersecurity of critical information infrastructure, in particular the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), and implementing comprehensive measures in this area.
According to the Ministry's press service, the meeting was chaired by Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
Emphasizing the importance of the topic under discussion, the minister noted that state policy is aimed at consistently enhancing the cyber resilience of critical infrastructure, which entails conducting regular professional assessments, adopting comprehensive measures, and implementing them systematically.
He noted that the energy sector is of key, vital importance and covers a wide range of consumers. "Considering the potential risks, it was advisable to begin these processes with the Electric Networks of Armenia, viewing them as a model for implementing cybersecurity standards in other strategic sectors," Hayrapetyan noted.
In this context, Acting Governor of the Electric Networks of Armenia Romanos Petrosyan noted the need to develop internal capabilities, attract expert and technical support, and implement comprehensive programs aimed at protecting the infrastructure. He emphasized that the state must assume the role of coordinator and guarantor, ensuring both system security and public trust.
During the discussion, participants emphasized the importance of directly involving specialized government agencies in future processes.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation, taking practical steps to strengthen the resilience of the industry.
Following the discussions, an agreement was reached to hold regular professional consultations.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Ruben Simonyan, Director of the Information Systems Agency of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan, and others.
