ArmInfo. The Union of Miners and Metallurgists of Armenia (UMMA) has become a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). This was reported by the press service of the Union.
ICMM is an international organization dedicated to a safe, fair, and sustainable mining and metals industry. It was established in 2001 and brings together 28 mining and metals companies along with over 35 national, regional, and commodities associations.
ICMM’s activities are aimed at strengthening environmental and social performance, serving as a catalyst for change and enhancing the mining industry’s contribution to society.
Each member of the International Council commits to adhering to ICMM principles, which include comprehensive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements, robust verification of expected performance metrics at the site level, and credible assurance of corporate sustainability reports with annual disclosure of information.
Applicant companies undergo a rigorous admission process that is thoroughly reviewed by an independent expert panel.
It is worth noting that the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) is one of the leading and active members of the Union of Miners and Metallurgists of Armenia. In October 2025, the Combine presented its 4th Sustainability Report. ZCMC is the only company in Armenia that has been preparing a sustainability report compliant with all international standards and requirements for four consecutive years.
As Roman Khudoliy, Head of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine, previously noted, sustainability is not merely a path to achieving certain goals for the enterprise, but a business model that drives efficiency, improves management systems, and strengthens as well as ensures long-term cooperation with all stakeholders. He emphasized that all these principles are not just intentions—they are backed by real, practical steps. "Changes do not happen overnight, and it is the path we choose that determines where we arrive. I can proudly say: we are confidently moving in the right direction," Khudoliy stated.
