ArmInfo. Armenian economic operators facing restrictions imposed by Rosselkhoznadzor will receive additional benefits, a decision on which was made at a government meeting on June 18.
According to RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, the draft government resolution aims to mitigate the consequences of restrictions imposed by Rosselkhoznadzor and provide additional benefits to economic entities. Previously, 20 contracts were signed under the greenhouse development support program for the creation of greenhouses covering an area of 91.45 hectares, of which 34.4 hectares have already been built and are producing. Greenhouse produce is primarily exported to the Russian Federation. However, Rosselkhoznadzor has recently imposed restrictions on the export of certain plant products from the Republic of Armenia, resulting in significant financial losses for greenhouses and the need for additional government support. This primarily concerns these 34.4-hectare greenhouses.
The minister announced that for those operators who built greenhouses and produced produce by July 1 of this year, the maximum loan repayment period will be extended from eight years to an additional six months. The grace period for principal and interest payments will also be extended for the same period. The grace period for these companies has already expired. Now, the loan principal and interest payments will not be due for six months. In parallel, the government will continue to fulfill its obligations to the country's commercial banks.
Beneficiaries can apply to a financial institution up to and including September 1, 2026. To receive the established benefit, the beneficiary must submit to the financial institution, along with the application, a certificate from the State Revenue Committee on agricultural produce sold in 2026 and a certificate from the Urban Development Committee on the construction of a greenhouse.
In this regard, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that, in the current situation, the country's economy is demonstrating very good adaptation rates for the agricultural sector.
The presented program is part of this adaptation. The main problem for rural residents currently is the delay in repayment of loans and interest rates. With the implementation of such programs, they will have no reason to worry. The Prime Minister called on economic operators to adapt to the new markets opened by the country's authorities.
