CAFSEP program plans to establish agricultural logistics centers in  Tavush and Shirak

ArmInfo. A delegation from the Climate-Adaptive Food Security Enhancement Project (CAFSEP) visited the settlements of Tavush and Shirak to study potential sites for the establishment of agricultural logistics centers.

This program is being implemented by the Ministry of Economy of  Armenia with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to the ministry's statement, the accessibility of the  facilities, the condition of the infrastructure, their connections to  agricultural value chains and markets were examined, and a  preliminary assessment of environmental and social factors was  conducted.

The program is expected to contribute, among other things, to  reducing post-harvest losses, increasing access to markets, and  strengthening the climate and economic resilience of local  communities.

According to the source, the program will provide beneficiary  households with support packages, including seedlings.

The delegation included representatives of the ADB mission, the  program implementation team, and representatives of a consortium of  companies providing consulting services.

The program will be implemented until the end of 2026 with a $3  million grant from the Japan Fund for a Prosperous and Resilient Asia  and the Pacific (JFPR) through ADB.

Its main objective is to increase the resilience of rural households  to the impacts of climate change, strengthen food security, implement  climate-resilient agricultural practices, and develop rural  infrastructure.

According to the Asian Development Bank, the program will cover 10  rural communities and hundreds of farms, which will receive a variety  of support measures.
