
ArmInfo. A delegation from the Climate-Adaptive Food Security Enhancement Project (CAFSEP) visited the settlements of Tavush and Shirak to study potential sites for the establishment of agricultural logistics centers.
This program is being implemented by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to the ministry's statement, the accessibility of the facilities, the condition of the infrastructure, their connections to agricultural value chains and markets were examined, and a preliminary assessment of environmental and social factors was conducted.
The program is expected to contribute, among other things, to reducing post-harvest losses, increasing access to markets, and strengthening the climate and economic resilience of local communities.
According to the source, the program will provide beneficiary households with support packages, including seedlings.
The delegation included representatives of the ADB mission, the program implementation team, and representatives of a consortium of companies providing consulting services.
The program will be implemented until the end of 2026 with a $3 million grant from the Japan Fund for a Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR) through ADB.
Its main objective is to increase the resilience of rural households to the impacts of climate change, strengthen food security, implement climate-resilient agricultural practices, and develop rural infrastructure.
According to the Asian Development Bank, the program will cover 10 rural communities and hundreds of farms, which will receive a variety of support measures.
